The Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Office is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for students, staff and faculty.  Each month a variety of upcoming events and workshops will be available to members of the Pitt community.

Supporting Survivors of Sexual Misconduct

The workshop will discuss the effects of trauma, how to respond to disclosures of sexual violence, how to provide ongoing support and Pitt specific resources. This workshop is facilitated with Pittsburgh Action Against Rape.

My Voice Has Power: A Bystander Intervention Discussion

This discussion-based session is designed to help community members recognize and respond to harassment and discrimination on a college campus. Participants will learn and share tips for how to intervene or act as an ally. Case scenarios will be discussed throughout the session.

Preventing and Responding to Sexual Misconduct

This workshop is designed to promote a common and consistent understanding and application of the University of Pittsburgh policies, standards, and processes with regard to Title IX. Participants will leave this workshop with an enhanced awareness of the various forms of harassment, sexual misconduct and domestic violence as well as their responsibility to promote a culture of prevention and safety for all.

Domestic Violence 101

The workshop will provide a brief overview of domestic violence which will include an overview of key terms and resources.  Participants will leave this workshop with tools for supporting community members who have been impacted by relationship abuse.  This workshop is facilitated the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh.
