The Kevin Cecil Study Abroad Scholarship

The Kevin Cecil Study Abroad Scholarship through the Disability Resource and Services office provides students financial assistance for a summer study abroad experience. This scholarship aims to empower persons with disabilities to go abroad and offset the cost. Two $1,000 scholarships are awarded each year.

To be eligible students must create a PittFund$Me account and a Pitt Global Experience application. To complete the application and view more details please visit the Kevin Cecil Study Abroad Scholarship page. The due date for the application is January 22, 2024.

AFB Scholars Program

The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) is proud to launch the AFB Scholars Program. This is your chance to access unparalleled opportunities, professional development, and a network of visionary leaders in the blind community.

The Lulu J. Alonso Scholarship Fund supports the following scholarship tiers to support postsecondary education for blind students; renewable annually.

  • Undergraduate - $20,000
  • Graduate - $28,000

Requirements & Expectations 

To be eligible, applicants must: 

  • Be legally blind (with verification).
  • Be accepted or enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Commit to participating in professional development activities. 

Scholarship recipients must: 

  • Engage in mentorship activities with an AFB leader.
  • Attend one approved annual conference with an AFB staff member.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
