Police Officer Public Safety - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (21004073)

Responsibilities include ensuring public safety in a multi-cultural environment in the third largest police department in Allegheny county. Police Officer duties include vehicular and foot patrol of University property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws; protection of persons and property; investigation of crimes; completion of police reports; testimony in court; and assistance to other law enforcement agencies. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in criminal justice or other related field from an accredited college or University and must have obtained Pennsylvania Act 120 certification prior to appointment; possess a valid PA driver’s license; as well as a safe driving record.

Communications Specialist Public Safety - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (21004271)

Monitor/Operator Monitors and responds to all radio communications; interacts with all persons in a courteous and respectful manner; responds immediately to all requests for service. Operates the University’s central alarm system (emergency phones, opening and closing of electronic doors, fire and burglar alarms). Operates and maintains the state National Crime Information Center computer; queries system for criminal histories, stolen vehicles and property, and distributes information through chain of command. Monitors all CCTV monitoring equipment within the communication room. Maintains all files and paperwork documentation as directed. Assesses dispatch media log, notifies supervisor of shift report of media log. Records personnel who have called off from work; notifies administration and supervisors. Assists with dispatcher duties when necessary; answers emergency calls when necessary; enters appropriate data into the Department’s record’s management system. Performs special projects as needed. 

High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of experience.

Security Guard Public Safety - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (21004265)

These individuals will staff security points on campus and at various University sites, interacting with the University community in a positive, professional manner. One-two years’ experience in a security field preferred, a high-school diploma or equivalent is required. Act 235 certification is preferred. Work schedule include varied shifts, and may include holidays, weekends, and overtime. These individuals will be required to operate electronic security devices, respond to security alarms and operate security systems Individual will have working knowledge of all security alarm systems, computer systems and various communication devices. 

Minimum high school diploma or GED  and 1-2 years work experience.
