University of Pittsburgh honored with Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for third year in a row
The University of Pittsburgh has received the 2019 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. As a recipient of the annual HEED Award — a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion — the University of Pittsburgh will be featured, along with 92 other recipients, in the November 2019 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine. This is the third year in a row that the University of Pittsburgh has been named as a HEED Award recipient.
“The university is thrilled by this recognition. Every year, the HEED assessment provides an opportunity to gather and assess initiatives, efforts, and outcomes from around the university. This award serves as a moment of positive reflection, which will fuel us to move our efforts forward,” said Pam Connelly, Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Inclusion.
INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine selected the University of Pittsburgh for its extensive array of programs and initiatives, such as their Pittsburgh Admissions Collaborative, Cultivating Inclusive Action Planner, Diversity Retreat, and the Latinx cluster-hiring initiative, aimed at increasing diverse representation and inclusive engagement across campus.
