Celebrating the Legacy of Bob Johnson

We are celebrating the legacy of Bob Johnson as well as commemorating the official opening of his papers and the publication of an on-line finding aid to the collection.

The Bob Johnson Papers highlight the professional and personal life of the Brooklyn born dancer/choreographer, actor and director. Johnson founded the Pittsburgh Black Theatre Dance Ensemble and served as a dance and drama lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh. He toured internationally as a dancer and participated in a number of local, Broadway, and Off-Broadway productions as an actor, choreographer, and dancer and was the founder of Theater Urge.

The event will include speaker recollections about Bob Johnson, a performance by Oronde Sharif and students, and an exhibit and video from the Bob Johnson Papers. Light refreshments will be served.

Please RSVP to Laura Brooks by Wednesday, September 13, 2017 (phone: 412-648-3223 or email: lab149@pitt.edu).
